Cottage Accommodation

In brief, the cottage has:

Lounge

From the front door, off the terrace (where guests can enjoy the peace and quiet and watch the world go slowly by), there is a spacious living area which has its original stripped pine floor. The focal point is the wood burner which is set into the beautiful slate fireplace and feature wall; Kindling and logs can be bought in Machynlleth at Coop, the Store (hardware shop) or Nisa (opposite the Machynlleth station). There is a two-seater settee with a throw for chilly evenings, a quirky, locally crafted coffee table, a flat screen TV, DVD/CD player, playing cards and games, books and DVDs, a drop leaf table and two chairs. A reclinable high chair for little ones can be provided.

Kitchen

The super ‘Magnet’ designer kitchen is very well equipped with everything the keen cook would want and expect in a property of this standard, including a moveable island/work station. There is a NEFF induction hob, NEFF built in oven and AEG built-in microwave. Other appliances include a slimline dishwasher (tablets provided), tall fridge/freezer, digital scales, kitchen timer, stick blender, electric hand whisk and a radio. There are two thermos flasks and a torch should you need them.

To greet you on arrival there is a welcome hamper in the kitchen with teas – Earl Grey, ‘ordinary’ and fruit, ground coffee, sugar, cereals and a small jar of homemade preserve; in the fridge you will find milk, spread, juice and a jug of water. To refresh you after your journey, Ceri will leave a couple of homemade cakes (please let us know of any special dietary requirements so you can be sure of a treat you can enjoy) and the kettle will be filled so you can pop it on straight away!

The first floor is accessed by stairs leading up from the kitchen.

Bedroom

The lovely bedroom, with its original stripped pine floor, is furnished with a double bed, two bedside cabinets, a double wardrobe and a six-drawer chest of drawers, all in pine; there are also two chairs as well as a basket for your dirty linen. Inside the wardrobe are a hairdryer, an iron and a table top ironing board as well as a couple of hot water bottles for our Winter guests. There are two quirky Fair Trade ‘nose’ glasses holders from India which sit on each of the bedside cabinets, helping you find your glasses in the morning!

You will find towels, flannels and bathrobes waiting for you on the bed.

If you come with a baby, we have a RedKite travel cot. Having asked everyone we know with little ones for advice we provide an EXTRA MATTRESS for the travel cot (to ensure baby AND YOU get a good night’s sleep!) and provide bedding and a towel so that there is a little bit less for you to have to pack and bring with you! We also provide a high chair and a baby bath and organic baby toiletries for your little one so you don’t have to bring too much, giving extra packing space in your boot! We do charge a small supplement of £20.00 if you are bringing a baby. (For safety reasons the cottage it is not suitable for a child who is already mobile.)

Bathroom

Wow! The designer bathroom is stunning. It has an original stripped pine floor, a large walk-in shower with flood pan overhead and hand attachment and a glass shower screen. The roll top, free-standing bath has a mixer tap as has the bowl basin on a wash stand. There is, of course, a WC! There are two heated towel rails. You will not need to pack toiletries as organic, cruelty free toiletries (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and cotton wool balls) are all provided.

Outside

There is a little terrace with a table and two chairs to the front so you can enjoy a drink or meal outside in this lovely village location; watching the world go by and chatting with friendly passers-by. A few metres away you will find the licensed Idris Stores where you can pick up some essential supplies, enjoy a snack and a drink or buy some local handicrafts or artwork. A bit further along is the Slater’s Arms where you can enjoy a pub meal (you may need to book, call 01654 761324), a pint and a chat with some of the villagers. Corris is the perfect place to enjoy peace and quiet and beautiful mountain scenery.

Front Terrace

Although there is no dedicated parking for the cottage, the free village car park is only a few metres away at the Corris Railway station.

Although there is no storage for bikes at the cottage itself, our friend Steve is willing to house bikes safely in his lean-to only 150 metres up the road.
